Aquatics has been a central part of my life ever since I joined a summer league swim team in my home state of Minnesota when I was six years old. I went on to compete in club swimming through USA Swimming for over 10 years, culminating in leading my High School Swim Team to four straight State Championships in Arizona. Ultimately, I fulfilled my dream of swimming for the NCAA Division I Women's Swim Team at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. I completed as a Trojan for four years — FIGHT ON!
But how did I get to where I am today? Well, about 15 years ago I finished my competitive swimming career, graduating from USC with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from USC's Marshall School of Business and a Master's Degree in Communication Management from USC's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. I wasn't sure exactly what my future held at that time, but I knew I loved swimming and I also loved business.
In 2008 I found a job teaching swim lessons and quickly landed myself the Manager job with Head Above Water, where I not only taught lessons, but also oversaw 20+ swim instructors each season and managed 300+ clients every year. After honing my talents as an administrator, manager and instructor for over 6 years, I had the opportunity to purchase Head Above Water in March 2015. As the Owner of Head Above Water, I had to split my time between managing the business and being in the pool and while I enjoyed wearing both hats (for different reasons), I was always drawn towards being in the water and sharing my love for swimming with others. After much thought, I made the decision in the fall of 2022 to go back to full-time teaching. I now have the honor and privilege of pursuing my passion and helping others and I wouldn't want it any other way!
In addition to my experience as a competitive swimmer and a tenured swim instructor, I am also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT106711). While I now run my own Private Practice where I see individuals, children, families and couples, I've also worked in community mental health at The Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills as well as at one of West Hollywood's premier Early Education centers — Early Childhood Development Associates. I have studied child development extensively and have a deep understanding of human behavior and various learning styles. My background in the field of psychology deeply influences my work in the pool as I see every swimmer I work with as a unique human with different needs and goals, which deserve highly-attuned, individualized attention. I also believe that learning to swim (at any stage in your life) can oftentimes have significant emotional and mental components that don't often get addressed when attending a community swim program.

I truly believe that swimming is an important life-long skill that has enormous benefits, both in and out of the pool. The lessons learned in the pool will last well beyond your classes. I believe I can help at any stage in the learn-to-swim process and I enjoy working with swimmers of all ages and abilities, from beginner to advanced. I welcome the opportunity to provide you with a high-end aquatic experience and I would love to speak with you more about how I can best serve your needs.
